nosy teachers

While understanding that the whole ‘show and tell’ scene at elementary school is definitely designed to pick up on child abuse, pedophilia and psychological problems, Nicole is pretty sure that nosy teachers take advantage of the innocent stories children tell them for their own titillation.

"Just think about it," laughs Nicole. "There must be a whole lot of amazing information gleaned at the show and tell sessions - some of which can be used very maliciously against families."

"I went through elementary school with girls from some very prominent families," says Nicole. "There was a politician's daughter who showed and told about daddy getting drunk - and there was also a stock broker's daughter who for all I knew may have blurted out something that the teacher may have used to her financial advantage."

"Taken to logical extremes," says Nicole, "it's not too far-fetched to imagine that teachers are pumping little kids every day for information - information that has nothing to do with a child's physical and emotional safety."

"When you're five years old and put into the care of a teacher you are at that teacher's mercy as far as the privacy of your family is concerned."

"As a result of this sort of thing I'm wary about having kids myself."
